The Knotwork Band

The Knotwork Band is a professional Celtic folk music trio with its roots in Central Pennsylvania.
We perform traditional folk music, covers of well known songs in the genre, and our own original compositions.

Victoria Visceglia shines on silver flute, wooden whistles, occasional piano & sundry percussion, and vocals.

Kevin Long provides consummate guitar and fretless bass guitar as well as a smattering of vocals and mandolin.

Tommy Kochel rounds it out with everything from wooden flute, piccolo, and high & low whistles to mandolin-family strings, and bodhráns & bones, as well as vocals and original composition and arrangement.

The Knotwork Band:
Celtic folk music and related music from
the British Isles, Scandinavia, continental Europe, and North America

“Tommy, I wanted to let you know how much we all enjoyed the band and the beautiful evening together last night! The music was encouraging and uplifting. You also have a gift of dialogue with the crowd, which makes everyone feel like one community. All in all, it was a wonderful night. My Dad . . . I know, without a doubt, . . . will be talking about it for a long time.
Best regards to you and the band. Stay healthy and well. Perhaps we will hear you again sometime.”
- Julie Kramer

“Great job all! Very enjoyable performance by a very talented group. Looking forward to their next show!”
- Emily Nehme

"I was with you from start to finish and found Tommy to be a total natural at center. Excellent crowd banter and beautiful persona. The performance bespoke professionalism mixed with fun, just the right tone for a folk music set. As good as my high school English teacher who led the Dry Branch Fire Squad, a bluegrass band of significant repute and status in Ohio. I was overwhelmed with a desire to sing McPherson’s Rant beside you in a pub someday."
- Paul Cockeram

Frey Village Retirement Center, Middletown, PA

"I was lucky to catch your concert for the residents of Frey Village where my mom is residing. I try to see that she attends as many musical activities as offered. At 98 and wheelchair bound, in addition to dementia, there is not a lot that adds to the quality of life. I consider music a saving grace. I couldn't ask for more than the cheerful Celtic numbers that you treated mom and me, as well as all the residents and staff in attendance, to. Thank you so much in bringing smiles to us all. Hope to see you at another performance in the area."
- Marlene Kanuck

The Goose and Gridiron pub, Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, PA
March 15, 2018

"We enjoyed your band's Irish music at the Masonic Village's Goose and Gridiron Tavern.
As you may recall my wife's a Coogan, we've been to Ireland, and the Pub music we heard there, as well as at the National Theater in Dublin, rang true for us with you and your fellow musicians, tonight.
"Gaelicly" yours,"
- Steve Lees and Kathy Coogan-Lees

- Bill Stine of Rizzetta's Tones

"I was at the McLain festival.  I admired your professionalism in soldiering on and look forward to hearing you again.  My husband and I were wondering how Tommy is.  We have been praying for his recovery.
I am a retired R.N.  I was watching his brother and sister and could tell that they had a medical background, so I stayed put.  Happy birthday!
We hope to see you all at another venue.
So glad you are better.
God bless!
- Jan Franklin, commenting on the band performing despite Tommy experiencing a minor health issue during the band's second set of the day
